HHT Team Lightning Completes Undefeated, Winless Campaign

On Saturday, Team Lightning presented by Hoover Hull Turner LLP ended their season with a nervy nil-nil draw over the “blue team” on a sodden field at Old Shelborne. Lightning had the better of the opening exchanges, but looked rusty, despite playing two midweek friendlies. The blue team dominated for the rest of the first half, but could not take the lead, despite aggressive plays on the ball by “that big kid” that had fans calling for a yellow card. In the dying stages the blue team launched a series of attacks, but Lightning saved their best effort for last and held on to record a welcome home tie.

The effort extended Team Lightning’s official streak of scoreless ties to eight Kindergarten League games. Though score-keeping is strictly prohibited by the League rulebook, veteran midfielder Caleb nevertheless protested the recorded outcome. “No, we had like … nine goals …?”

It was a memorable spring campaign for Coach Jason Fulk and Team Lightning, and likely the last this accomplished group will see together due to free agency and the rising K-League salary cap for the fall 2016 season. But for now, they savor perfection.
